Description/Story: There was a used car lot in a busy section of Grand Rapids, MI that I used to drive by weekly. I finally had to stop and take reference images because the star-shaped signage was so interesting. It had such a great patina from rust and age. I had several views of it and the first painting I did was rented and then sold. I always wanted to paint one much larger and after moving several times, had to hunt down the printed pictures of it as they were from before the digital camera age. The work has been in several shows and taken awards for them. I found out that the actual sign was demolished quite a while ago, so this is what is left, a portrait of it.
