This is the topper to the Hawaii Motel signage in Daytona, Florida is an icon on Highway 1, and still attached to the working motel. I can't pass up a good mid-century piece like this. The actual sign had many repaints, but it's difficult to know what the original paint job looked like. I pulled some references together of old Hawaiian ads with dancers from the 1950s, and an old postcard of the motel from its heyday.
I'm hoping everyone gets a kick out of this little painting but also realizes how times change and how these icons are disappearing.
