Description/Story: Peeling paint crusted on the sign and stains from weathering create a heavily textured surface for the Venice Motel in St. Petersburg, FL. The owners don't even know what they have, a relic from the past but also a perfect example of mid-century modern design that is disappearing from the landscape. I wanted to capture the crowded cluster of light bulbs and light dancing in and through them in this drawing.
