The Owl Cleaners neon sign in San Antonio was still sporting hand painted embellishment when I visited several years ago. It had been painted over the original enamel on metal, but the paint has become brittle and chipped from wear. I am so delighted as the design of this little mid-century icon, it's seen better days. The image can hang as is or be placed into a float frame where you can still see the wood sides.
