I was fortunate to have taken some reference photos of my neighbor’s GMC pickup truck because the next week that I passed by the ornament was gone. This was a challenging painting to do because of the patterns of the rust and faded paint on the hood of the truck. I used several masking techniques, a lot of dry-brush, and a lot of patience. Some artistic decisions were made to make the hood ornament stand out more.
