Medium: Watercolor, and gold pigment, handmade papers, French Parchtone paper collage
Size (Mounted on Strathmore watercolor paper): 11.5" x 14.5"
Description/Story: Experimenting with a limited color palette and a variety of papers that gave the project plenty of surface textures lead to something that reminded me of a renewal or saving things that are dear. We all play a part in sustainable practices, this collage has that as part of its story.
First, the violet background paper is handmade from natural materials. It comes from a village in India where it helps build that community making an honest product. Second, there are several pieces of handmade paper that I made using 100% cotton. Lastly, the French paper mill is powered by the Huron River.
The work should be matted with space between it and mat board, or float matted in a shadowbox frame, or simply mount in a shadowbox so the protective glazing will not touch the surface of the papers which has some depth due to the textures and layering of the collage.
